The Vic
The 24unit apartment buildings are located at 2000 and 2017 North Blackwelder Avenue. They are within a five minute walk to the Plaza District and Oklahoma City University. The buildings were in desperate need of repair and was a burden on the Gatewood community. Building on their mid 1960s origin, we looked to the Gatewood community for inspiration to design a mid-century modern, garden-style apartments for today’s millennial and simplistic living.
Our goal was to modernize the apartments through updated design and building materials that complement the Gatewood neighborhood’s vintage single family homes and multi-family duplexes. The buildings have been fully restored, including new windows, stairs, updated central HVAC, plumbing, electrical, including energy efficient LED lighting, paint and landscape. Embracing the 1960’s, the clean lines and retro style of these apartments, The Vic has been a big success as an investment and to the community.
